Bamboo charcoal is a great way to purify your tea water. Bamboo charcoal is made by super-heating bamboo stalks until they turn into solid, porous charcoal. To purify your tea water, boil one stalk for 10 minutes in water. Then, set the stalk out to dry. Once dry, place the stalk in a pitcher of tap water. The bamboo charcoal will remove chlorine, chlorides, and other chemicals and impurities, as well as add beneficial minerals to the water. We usually leave our stalk in the water until we use the water, and then pour more water into the pitcher. We do this for several weeks until the stalk needs a "recharge." To recharge your stalk, repeat the boiling and drying process. Throw the stalk out and use a new one after a month or so, or when you feel it is not making a difference in water quality. |
